There is something about cereal that I’ve always been a fan of. Ever since I was little. It’s like a major comfort food, agreed?
I would have cereal for every meal if I could but SIIIIKE as you know, they add so.much.damn.sugar.
So I went Whole Foods hunting for a cereal I could eat when I am beyond lazy and want to fill a bowl and call it a day… or night. Just like those tiny tike days! Yup YOU GUESSED IT – I found a bomb ass cereal to take the place of our favorite Frosted Flakes.
Ok but I won’t lie to you – it doesn’t not taste exactly like your little kid cereal bowl days, but it gets the job done, has major benefits and you can spice it up however you want.
If you follow on snap you have already seen this recipe – but I wanted to have it on here for you guys to be able to check out whenever you need a little pick me up midnight snack minus the sugar overdose.
SKINNY PURPLE CEREAL
1/2 cup of frozen blueberries – microwave for 1 minute
1/2 to 1 cup of Ezekiel Golden Flax Cereal
Almond or cashew milk (however much you like!)
The blueberries being frozen then heated up adds this warm yumminess to the whole bowl – I like having frozen blueberries in my freezer all the time for smoothies and, duh, this bowl. It’s a great way to keep them longer too!
The benefits in this bowl of cereal are my FAVORITE PART.
As seen on the Ezekiel Golden Flax Cereal box – there is 6g dietary fiber, 8g of protein and less than 1g of sugar in 1 serving (1/2 cup). Uh-huh.
Fiber is always a plus in my diet – I’ve read numerous times that people usually don’t get enough fiber throughout the day (I wasn’t, but you could be different so make sure to check your eating habits before dousing down fiber all day). You can read more on the studies from this article at Well+Good.
I started incorporating fiber into my diet because I always felt hungry. I would eat the wrong things and then be looking for a snack an hour later. Fiber FILLS you up. I mean really, it lives up to its expectations. So any way to get fiber into my diet is a total yes for me.
The protein in this cereal will also fill you up. Plus the blueberries add a crazy amount of antioxidants and a ton of flavor. You can add cinnamon, bananas, whatever else. You really can’t go wrong here.
AND IT’S SO QUICK TO MAKE. I’m always, always all about that.
Tell me how you spice yours up, x
